Tim Teabow has converted to Islam after his Florida Gators suffered a humiliating 32-13 defeat to the hated Alabama Crimson Tide.

“I renounce the false Christian God,” Teabow shouted from the sidelines as the game’s final seconds ticked to zero. “There is no God but God, and His Prophet is Mohamed.”

Later in the locker room, Teabow was spotted rubbing “John 16:33″ from his cheeks and struggling to write “Allah” in unfamiliar Arabic script.

“Henceforth I acknowledge only the One God, who has neither begotten nor has been begotten,” he said to a puzzled member of the media.

When asked for comment re the performance of his offensive line, Teabow would only say, “Infidels all shall suffer the same fate.”

I’m not sure how to feel about Hitchens’ column on the slaughter of the Cairo pigs; his reaction was exactly mine, if one includes the things I left unsaid about sectarianism.

Never before has there been such an important question that I cared so little about: Can we avoid a mass rejection of evolution in the Muslim world?

Koran, Quran, al Qur’an, etc.

Since we’re still two months away from the presidency of a crypto-Muslim Manchurian Candidate, there’s plenty of time to bone up on the Koran before the enforcers arrive at my door.  A detail caught my eye today. Remember Abrahim ibn Faud?  He was the pilot of the Phoenix Hawk LAM described in TRO 3025 as interrupting his battles to pray toward Mecca (meaning skyward).  It turns out he needn’t have troubled himself.  In sura 4, verses 101 through 103, we read:

When you travel in the land there is no sin if you curtail your service of prayer if you fear the unbelievers may harass you, for indeed your open enemies are the infidels.  When you are among them, and have to lead the service of prayer, let one group stand up with you, but let them keep their arms.  After they have paid their homage they should go to the rear, and let the group which has not done so yet offer their service of prayer with you, remaining cautious and armed.  The infidels wish to find you neglectful of your arms and provisions, to attack you unawares.  It will not be sin if you put aside your arms when you are troubled by rain, or you are ill; but take full precautions.  God has reserved for infidels a despicable punishment.  If you are late in performing your service of prayer honor God by remembering Him, standing or sitting or lying on your sides.  And when you have security perform your act of prayer befittingly; and praying at fixed hours is prescribed for the faithful. [emphasis added]

That a procedure for prayer while under threat of arms is described is remarkable; it must actually have been an issue at the time.  The Koran is full of just this sort of on-the-other-handedness; elsewhere a brief enjoinment to fasting is given and followed by an exhaustive list of permissible reasons for delay flexible enough to cover almost any circumstance.  There’s plenty of reason to hope that the new appointees to the Supreme Court interpret the Koran liberally when handing down judgments.

Res ipsa loquitur

A propaganda film arrived today wrapped in the Sunday paper.  No, that’s not a joke.  It’s titled Obsession, and in place of the O we have a star-and-crescent.  From the packaging:

Obsession is a film about the threat of Radical Islam to Western Civilization.  Using unique footage from Arab television, it reveals an ‘insider’s view’ of the hatred the Radicals are teaching, their incitement of global jihad, and their boal of world domination.  The film also traces the parallels between the Nazi movement of World War II, the Radicals of today, and the Western world’s response to both threats.

I’m way ahead of these guys.  I’ve already set to learning enough of the Koran to pass for a Muslim should the need arise.  Foreign slaves need native overseers, don’t they?
